How Often Do Eclipses Occur?
Solar eclipse occurs when Sun – Earth – Moon are in alignment or when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. Solar eclipse occurs during the new moon phase the same as Lunar eclipse always occurs during full moon. But not every new moon or full moon, eclipses will occur. Why is that?

Next year, Indonesia will experiences the solar eclipse on March 9 even though only some part of the country will experience the totality. It is a great opportunity for Indonesia, as the only land base observation. Well, if someone wants to try the Woleai atoll then there is another land base from Micronesia to view the totality.
TSE 2016 in Ternate – Tidore
The best view for Total Solar Eclipse 2016 will be from North Maluku as weather prospect is better comparing to Sulawesi, Borneo or Sumatera. Ternate will become the first gate to reach this province either by air or sea. From here you can choose to stay and watch the eclipse from Ternate or moving to another city such as Jailolo, Tidore, Kao, Buli, Sofifi or Maba.

During the Total Solar Eclipse 9 March 2016, Halmahera, the largest island in North Maluku will be the best place for viewing the totality as it will have the longest duration and the best weather prospects. Maba, the city in East Halmahera will be the perfect choice for totality as the centerline will pass through this city. And this is the last land base location for viewing the totality from Indonesia. The next one is Woleai atoll in Micronesia.
