Are you traveling to Indonesia to observe the total solar eclipse on March 9, 2016?
Will you be at Ternate (one of the best observation sites)?
Do you have a background in astronomy and have spare time to join us as a volunteer to hold workshops for local school students?
The IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach and the Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space are seeking volunteers to help conduct astronomy outreach workshops in the local community.
Date: March 7, 2016
Location: Ternate, North Maluku, Indonesia
Volunteers will help in conducting an outreach program for school students in Ternate – such as solar observation techniques and safety (DIY eclipse glasses, etc.), and the usage of general astronomy planetarium software.
It would be nice if you could also set-up your own telescope for solar observations.
This is a volunteer program for those who would like to help during their spare time; the event organizers will not cover any of your traveling expenses, and cannot offer any help with immigration procedures. You should be able to communicate in English, since it is the major language used.
